Why do we have so much scramble for party foods,drinks and souvenirs? Anyone with an answer, please help us here!!!!

It still amazes me why we have so much struggle for food, drinks and souvenirs at weddings, burials and functions. Every typical Nigerian event is laced with such people and it makes me wonder if there's a special spice added to the so called "party rice" that people scramble for, meanwhile, in all sincerity, some of these party foods ain't sweet or anything close to being sweet but the crave for it is somewhat annoying and some of the people even go as far as keeping malice with celebrants because they were not fed at their occasion and when you actually discover the truth, it'll shock you to know that they ate but were looking for their take-away packs to be full for home... and one question I keep asking is: why do we scramble for party food, drinks and souvenirs? Someborry please help a sister with the answer......
